Real diamond, but mined in a laboratory above ground rather than deep beneath the earth's crust. Optically, qualitatively, aesthetically, and in terms of (chemical) properties, diamonds from a mine and those from a laboratory are exactly the same. The origin therefore makes no difference in that respect, but by choosing lab-grown diamonds, we are opting for an ecologically and ethically improved process.

They are also called 'Man Made Diamonds' and that is precisely the major difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond; one is a miracle of nature, the other a miracle of human intelligence. Physically, chemically and optically, both diamonds are exactly the same. It is impossible to tell the difference between a natural and a lab-grown diamond, whether with the naked eye, a loupe or a microscope. What is the difference from a natural diamond?

'Are lab diamonds real?'.
The answer to this is simple: YES.
Whether a diamond is created deep in the earth or in a lab, they are both real. They have the exact same optical, chemical, and physical properties. The difference cannot be determined with the naked eye or a loupe either. The difference lies in the origin.

Not every lab-grown diamond is the same. That is why we exclusively select premium diamonds based on the internationally recognized 4 Cs:
Cut
The 'cut' tells us how the facets of a diamond are shaped. An important indicator, because a poorly cut stone shows little life, is dark, and does not sparkle.
Carat
Probably the most well-known of the four, but certainly no more important than the other three. The number of carats indicates the diamond's weight, but for a beautiful diamond, bigger is certainly not always better.
Clarity
Clarity says something about the clearness of a diamond and the presence of any inclusions. The number of imperfections, their position, and size ultimately determine the grade. In general: the fewer inclusions, the rarer and more valuable the diamond.
Colour
The colour, or more accurately the lack thereof, is indicated on a scale from D to Z. In this regard, a white stone graded D is the rarest.
The quality of our diamonds
Just as with natural diamonds, there is a great deal of variation in quality among different lab-grown diamonds, and there are many facets that make them sparkle. For instance, the 4 Cs are an important gauge in determining a diamond's quality. These are assessed by recognized geological institutions such as the IGI. For our collection, we only select high-quality diamonds with a minimum grade of VS/TW. Furthermore, our diamond jewelry is supplied as standard with a jewelry certificate, and diamonds of 0.50 ct and larger come with an official IGI certificate. This allows us to continue to guarantee the quality of our jewelry.

How is lab-grown diamond created?
A lab-grown diamond starts with a small diamond seed.
By replicating the conditions under which diamonds are formed in nature, it grows into a rough diamond over the course of several weeks. The stone then goes through the exact same process as a natural diamond: cutting, polishing, grading, and certification.
The end result is a diamond that is identical to a natural diamond in terms of appearance and characteristics.

No, you cannot see a difference if you place the diamonds side by side. Even a jeweler cannot distinguish a lab-grown diamond from a natural diamond with the naked eye or a loupe. This requires specialized measuring equipment and certification.
That depends on where you buy the diamonds. Just like natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds can be graded by independent institutes such as the IGI. At Aurore Jewelry, all diamonds are supplied with a diamond certificate. Diamonds of 0.50 ct. and larger are supplied with an official IGI certificate.
Just as with natural diamonds, the value is determined by various factors, including quality, demand, and market conditions. Future value development is therefore difficult to determine in advance. You buy a piece of diamond jewelry primarily for its emotional value, the craftsmanship, and the memory it represents.
