Why recycled gold?
The remarkable thing about gold is that it can be recycled infinitely without losing its quality. After melting, it retains exactly the same properties as newly mined gold. There is no difference in color, hardness, purity, or lifespan.
Mining gold can have a significantly destructive impact on the environment. By reusing existing gold, we reduce the demand for newly mined gold and give a valuable raw material a new lease on life. In this way, we combine timeless beauty with a conscious choice for the future.
The color of gold
One precious metal, three distinctive colours
Although the base is always the same, gold gets its final colour from the composition of the alloy. With us, you can choose to have your jewellery made in 18kt yellow, white, or rose gold.

Yellow gold
The natural colour of the precious metal and still the most popular in the Netherlands. Warm, timeless and loved for its rich appearance. To make the material stronger and give it a warm appearance, the alloy contains a small amount of silver and copper in addition to gold.
Yellow and white gold go together perfectly and this is therefore a frequently seen combination.
White gold
The radiant glow of white gold makes diamonds stand out perfectly. White gold is therefore widely used for jewelry with many diamonds and diamond settings. The alloy consists mainly of gold, with palladium and silver added. To achieve the bright white appearance, our rings are finished with a rhodium layer.
Rose gold
It has a warm and romantic look. Rose gold is an alloy of gold, copper, and silver, making it the strongest of the three gold colours. The amount of copper also determines whether the material has a more reddish or soft pink appearance.
You can combine this gold colour beautifully with white gold, but less well with yellow gold.

Why do we choose 18 karat gold?
Not all gold jewellery is the same. The gold content indicates how much gold is incorporated into a piece of jewellery.
24 carat gold is completely pure, but too soft for daily wear. Therefore, gold is combined with other metals, creating a strong alloy.
At Aurore, we deliberately choose 18 carat gold. This alloy consists of 75% pure gold and offers the perfect balance between luxury, durability and wearing comfort.

After the recycled gold has been melted down, the true craftsmanship begins. Experienced goldsmiths shape the gold into jewellery with refined settings in which each diamond is carefully placed. Subsequently, each piece of jewellery is checked and polished by hand to ensure it meets Aurore's high quality standards.

This independent organization audits the entire chain and verifies that the gold used genuinely comes from recycled materials. This ensures that the origin of our gold has been independently verified and complies with internationally recognized certification standards.

Yes. Recycled gold is the same gold as newly mined gold. Once gold is melted down and refined, it essentially starts anew. It loses none of its quality, purity, or beauty. Recycled gold is therefore chemically and physically identical to newly mined gold.

In the Netherlands, it is mandatory for gold jewellery to have an official hallmark. All our jewellery is inspected by the Dutch Assay Office (the authority in this field) to verify the gold content and then apply an official hallmark. This way, you can always be sure that your piece of jewellery is made of 18 karat gold.
The difference between 9, 14, and 18 karat lies in the amount of pure gold a piece of jewelry contains. The higher the caratage, the larger the proportion of gold in the alloy.
9 karat - 37.5% pure gold
14 karat - 58.5% pure gold
18 karat - 75% pure gold
Because pure gold is naturally very soft, it is mixed with other metals to make it suitable for jewelry. This creates a strong alloy that can withstand daily wear. In the Netherlands, 9 karat cannot officially be called gold as it has too low a gold content.
At Aurore, we consciously choose 18 karat gold. Thanks to its high gold content, it has a warm, rich color and a luxurious appearance that is characteristic of high-quality jewelry. At the same time, 18 karat is strong enough to last a lifetime.
