Why choose a brilliant-cut engagement ring?
The round brilliant is the most well-known and chosen diamond cut in the world. And for good reason. Thanks to its round shape and precisely cut facets, a brilliant reflects light optimally, creating an unparalleled sparkle. It is precisely this lively shimmer that has made the brilliant the classic choice for engagement rings for years.
Whether you choose a refined solitaire ring or a design with side diamonds, a brilliant-cut diamond remains timeless and can be effortlessly combined with any style.
What is a brilliant?
Although the terms are often used interchangeably, a diamond is not the same as a brilliant. A diamond is the gemstone itself, while "brilliant" refers to a specific cut. Only a round diamond that has been cut according to fixed proportions and consists of 57 or 58 facets may be called a brilliant.
This cut was developed to reflect as much light as possible. The result is a diamond with exceptional sparkle and a lively play of light, making the brilliant the most popular choice for an engagement ring worldwide.
Timeless designs for every story
Within the Aurore collection, you will find various designs in which the brilliant takes center stage. From minimalist solitaire engagement rings like the Olivia ring to elegant three-stone and halo rings: each collection gives its own appearance to this iconic cut.
For instance, the Alix ring combines three brilliant-cut diamonds for a classic design, while other models make the central brilliant stand out even more thanks to a refined halo or subtle side diamonds. Regardless of the style you choose, every ring is designed to last a lifetime.
The quality of a brilliant
The quality of a brilliant, like any other diamond, is assessed based on the internationally recognized 4 Cs:
Carat
The weight of the diamond. This indicates the size of the brilliant.
Color
How colorless the diamond is. Here, less color is considered higher quality. According to the internationally used GIA color scale, the color grade of a white diamond ranges from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or light brown).
Clarity
The presence of natural inclusions. In this regard, the fewer the inclusions, the better.
Cut
The quality of the cut and how the diamond reflects light. For a brilliant, the cut has a major influence on the sparkle. Even a larger diamond can look less lively if the cut quality is not optimal.
At Aurore Jewelry, we exclusively work with premium lab-grown diamonds from F color and VS clarity. Diamonds from 0.50 ct. are supplied with an official IGI certificate. If you would like more information about the quality of diamonds and the 4 Cs, please view our knowledge pages.
